Mr. William Austin Sumner Jr., age 78, of Hazlehurst, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Memorial University Hospital. Mr. Sumner was born September 23, 1937 in Tifton, Ga to the late William Austin Sumner Sr. and the late Ruby Clarice Findley Sumner. He was a member of the Army National Guard, retired Finance Manager with Universal Finance and attended First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ann Sumner of Hazlehurst; Daughter, Tamie Dee Griffith of St. Simons Island; Two Sons, Lynn Allen Sumner of Lillburn and Thomas William Sumner of Tucker; Six Grandchildren, Alex Sumner, Ian Griffith, Megan Sumner, Katherine Griffith, Austin Sumner and Nathan Sumner; Great-Grandchild, Oliver Griffith; Sister, Austeen Boyne of Brunswick; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. J. Barry Owens and Rev. Bob Boyne officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick, Ga. at 3:00 p.m. The family may be contacted at the residence, 1276 Alma Highway Hazlehurst, Ga.
