Allan Kirby Obituary

Mr. Duane Kirby, age 48, of Hazlehurst passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at his residence, ending his battle with cancer.

 

Mr. Kirby was born March 13, 1973 in Jeff Davis County.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clayton Gene Kirby, mother, Audrey Jean Drake Floyd and grandmother, Lillian Ange.

After graduating Jeff Davis High School, he entered into his life long career in Law Enforcement with the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office as a Drug Investigator. This was his life, during his 30 years of service; he was recognized by the United States Department of Justice for his outstanding contributions in the field of Drug Law Enforcement. He attended the Lumber City Baptist Church and the Lumber City Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Dashia McLoon Kirby of Hazlehurst; daughter, Amberlyn Kirby-Porterfield (Jake) of Hazlehurst; son, Conner William Kirby of Cleveland Ga.; step-sons, Cameron Fletcher of Hazlehurst and Colt Carver (Anna) of Broxton; brother, Richie Charles Floyd (Bubba) of Alamo; five grandchildren, Tanleigh Porterfield, Rena Porterfield, Mason Carver, Addison Carver and Lane Carver; aunts, Patsy (Tommy) Herrmann of Savannah and Lynn Haymons of Lumber City; two cousins, Kelly Strickland of Snellville and Melisse Moore of Lumber City; nephews, Logan Floyd, J.T and Kaleb Vaughn; sister-in-law, Marti (Jamie) Vaughn of Douglas; special friend, Stormy Jowers Merritt.

 

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

 

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 2:00pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Ashley Tyree and Rev. David Deen officiating.

 

Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City with a law enforcement tribute.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be all Law Enforcement.

 

Active pallbearers will be the Georgia State Patrol.
