Atris Ray, Jr.

Mr. Atris Ray, Jr., age 88, of Denton, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Jeff Davis Hospital in Hazlehurst.

He was born on October 16, 1937, in Hazlehurst to the late Atris Ray, Sr. and Carrie Ellis Ray. He was a native and lifelong resident of Denton and attended Denton Baptist Church. He was a carpenter by trade and owned Ray & Ray Construction company with his brother, Roger Ray. Mr. Ray was a hard worker with a laid back, easy-going spirit. He was a proud grandpa and enjoyed watching Nascar races and Western Movies.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Roger Ray.

Mr. Ray is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Sue Ray of Denton; his son, Atris Ray, III (Candace) of Mableton; and his grandchildren, Hayes Ray and Ethan Ray.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
