Barbara Salinas Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Ann Salinas, age 68, of Lumber City, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at her residence.

She was born on September 27, 1956, in Hazlehurst to the late Losey Bohannon, Jr. and Pearlie Merritt Bohannon. She was raised in Hazlehurst and spent the last 30 years of her life in Lumber City. She was a member of House of Grace Church in Hazlehurst. She was well known for her cooking—especially her biscuits, which her family proudly called the best. Cooking was one of her love languages, and she was happiest when feeding others.

Barbara had a wonderful sense of humor and a heart of gold. She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back and still ask if you needed anything else. She deeply loved her family—especially her beloved husband—and treasured the time spent with them. She also enjoyed the quiet joy of fishing and the peaceful moments it brought. She will be remembered for her kind spirit, her selfless heart, and the way she made everyone feel at home.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Larry Bohannon, Jr.; her sisters, Mary Ann Pruitt, Gennifer Bohannon, Wanda Faye Glisson, and Susan Whidby; and her brother, Larry Bohannon, Sr.

Barbara’s family includes her husband of 32 years, Jesus Salinas of Lumber City; her son, Bobby Ray Chambers, Jr. (Stacy) of Lake Sinclair; her daughter, Stephanie Ann Chaney (Billy) of Hazlehurst; her sisters, Peggy Sue Glisson (Joe) of Uvalda, and Tamala Brewer (Lonnie) of Hazlehurst; her brother-in-law, Charlie Glisson of Uvalda; her grandchildren, Nicholas Chandler Blum, Somer Marie Blum-Wells (Kameron), Bobby Ray Chambers, III, Connor Louis Blum, Ashley Pearl Chambers, and Preston Hugh Blum; her God-children, Manuela, Pete, and Brianna Salinas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Pastor David Deen officiating.

Burial will follow in the Smyrna Church Cemetery in Uvalda.

Active pallbearers will be Lonnie Brewer, Jr., Tyler Brewer, Kameron Wells, Daniel Worth, Scott Richardson, and Brandon Bush.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Three Rivers Home Health.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Stephanie Chaney, 171 Amanda Thomas Rd, Hazlehurst, GA 31539.
