Mr. Benjamin Franklin Corey, age 74, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, September 01, 2021 at Jeff Davis Hospital.
Mr. Corey was born December 25, 1946 in Miami Florida but has lived most of his life in Jeff Davis County after marrying the love of his life Earlene Burkett Corey. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonzo Lee Corey and Emma Rackard Corey, son, Benji Mincey, sisters, Carol Ann London and Elizabeth McKinley.
He was a great provider for his family, he had a strong work ethic, but in his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, junking, spending time with his family and an avid Elvis fan. He was formerly employed with Williams Brother Trucking and attended Grace Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Earlene Burkett Corey of Hazlehurst; daughter, Amy Michelle Corey of Hazlehurst; sons, Paul Daniel Corey of Hazlehurst and Benjamin Daniel Corey of Hazlehurst; brothers, John Lee Corey of Baxley and Thomas Haynes (Diane) of Baxley; sisters, Merlene Carter (Ray) of Baxley and Helen Powell of Fla.; 8 grandchildren, Andrew F. Corey, Landon Corey, Braxton Corey, Gabrel Corey, Allen Daniel Corey, April Lynn Stapleton, Timothy D. Stone, Brianna Mincey and Madison Mincey; Nine great-grandchildren also survived.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 07, 2021 at 11:00am in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Nathan Greer officiating.
