Ms. Beverly Ann Harper, age 78, of Hazlehurst, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at her home.
Ms. Harper was born on February 27, 1946 in Macon to the late Lester and Cerise Phillips. She grew up in Graham and moved to Hazlehurst as a young adult where she lived for the last 60 years of her life. In the 80s, she was the Magistrate Judge for Jeff Davis County for 2 terms. She loved to meet and talk to new people, and never met a stranger. She had a sharp memory and a unique gift for conversation. She enjoyed traveling but enjoyed coming home even more. She loved and cared for all animals, especially her fur babies, Bitsy and Max.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Harper.
Ms. Harper’s family includes her brother and brother-in-law, Terry Phillips and Steve Cooper of Fernandina Beach; her best friends, Dale Reagin and Rosa Bowen, both of Hazlehurst; and her dogs, Bitsy and Max.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
A graveside service and interment will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Graham United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Wigley officiating.
Active pallbearers will be David Spires, Dayton Fennel, Chris Reagin, Buddy Creech, Mather Davis, Eddy Bush, and Michael Lay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPA) P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090.
