Bill Summerlin Obituary

Bill Summerlin, age 68, of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, August 20, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Summerlin was born February 15, 1952 in Jeff Davis County; he was preceded in the death by his parents, late J. Tom Summerlin and Opal Hughes Summerlin, his wife Betty Walls Summerlin and a son, Wayne Cannon. He retired from the Hazlehurst Housing Authority and attended Philadelphia United Methodist Church. He had a deep-rooted love for music and he entertained his many friends and family through song for most of his life. He was also an avid fisherman, who loved the sport but without much success, but he always showed the worms that he was boss.

Survivors include his children, Becky (Joey) Porsga of Savannah, Debbie Cannon of Ft. Lauderdale, Rhonda (Tony) Touchton of Claxton, Phillip (Tracey) Cannon of Lake Park, FL and Rick (Tracy) Owen of Vinton, Louisiana, his daughter-in-law, Terri Horton, his brother, Bruce (Nina) Summerlin of Hazlehurst, 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 24, 2020 at Hazlehurst City Cemetery with Rev. Joey Andrews and Rev. Allen Hartsfield officiating.

 Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the   family and Wainright Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to wear a mask and follow the social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
