Billy Gay Obituary

Mr. Billy Frank Gay, age 76, of Uvalda, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia.

He was born on February 17, 1949 in Denton to the late Clyde and Cleomon McLeod Gay. He was raised in Jeff Davis County and became a lineman at the age of 18 after graduating from high school. He continued working as a lineman for 49 years before retiring from Southeast Power.

Billy loved being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or going to the river. He also enjoyed spending time with his family as well as his dogs, Taz and Lucas. He was a good-hearted man who would help anyone that needed him. He will be greatly missed by the Dead River Community.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sons, Bryant Gay, Brian Gay, Larry Watson, and Doug Watson; his maternal grandparents who helped raise him, Charlie and Lois McLeod; his brother, Michael Connell; and his sister, Carolyn Herbert.

His family includes his wife, Tammy Brown-Gay of Uvalda; his sons, Robert Gay (Wendy) of Santee, SC, and Justin Brown of Uvalda; his daughters, Summer Jones (Justin) of Cocoa, FL, and Jessica Martines (Johnny) of Savannah; his sisters, Ann Griffin (Bill) of Hazlehurst, Joyce Moye of Bainbridge, Kathy Tippins (Jerry) of Baxley, and Debbie Connell of Brunswick; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Dead River Cemetery in Uvalda.

Active pallbearers will be Carroll Moye, Rob Stampe, Stacy Adams, Sr., Stacy Adams, Jr., Billy Gay, and Cody Gay.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and family in attendance.

Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home and the Gay family are in charge of arrangements.
