Brenda Joyce (Johnston) Graham

Mrs. Brenda Joyce Johnston Graham earned her well deserved angel wings early Saturday morning, September 30, 2023. She was born to Howard and Kathryn Johnston June 30, 1940.

Brenda enjoyed being with people and most of all serving others. She demonstrated this by devoting some thirty-four years to serving the citizens of Jeff Davis County, which she loved, as the Jeff Davis County Tax Commissioner. Brenda was also a devoted wife, mama, nanny, great nanny to her beautiful family which she loved dearly. Some of her favorite activities including attending her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s events, collecting antiques, playing cards and going out to eat and attending church of which she was a member, Elizabeth Baptist Church.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Kathryn Norman Johnston, husband, Garner Graham, and brother Norman Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory son Howard L. Graham, daughter Susie Kersey (Jon Barton), grandchildren, Erin (Logan Lee), Dustin (Katie) Kersey, Hannah Day, and Cari (Levi) Williams, great-grandchildren, Jolie and Maverik Kersey, Addison and Brooks Lee and Maggie Day, brother Bill (Teresa) Johnston, sister, Kay (Ronnie) Harrell, sister-n-law Maxie Jo Johnson and many nieces and nephews.

Elvis, her beloved canine companion will also morn her loss along with many friends three of which are Judy Dawson Deloach, Nell Harper and Winifred Nails.

Visitation will be held Monday, evening, October 02, 2023 in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 03, 2023 at 11:00am at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Miss. Aidan Johnston, Mr. Dustin Kersey, Mr. Buck Elder and Rev. Keith Yawn officiating.

Ms. Graham will lie in state one hour at church prior to service.

Interment will follow in the Graham family Cemetery, Ira Graham Road, Hazlehurst.

All friends and family in attendance will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Sean Starling, Timmy Starling, Jacob Johnston, Steve Underwood, Logan Lee, Levi Williams, Garrett Harrison and Mark Stone will serve as active pallbearers.

Musical selections will be rendered by Zach Johnson and Elizabeth Baptist Church Choir.
