Cecil Griffin

Mr. Cecil Griffin, age 78, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at his home.

He was born on September 18, 1946, in Hazlehurst where he lived all his life. He dedicated more than 40 years of hard work to Hazlehurst Mills before retiring. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and found great joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Cecil was known for his warm hospitality and big heart, often expressed through his love of cooking. Sunday dinners with his family were a cherished tradition, where he shared not only delicious meals but also his deep love for those closest to him. No matter what he was cooking, Cecil's food brought people together.

He found peace sitting on the porch, swapping stories with family and friends, or riding his golf cart around to visit with his neighbors. He loved being outside and especially enjoyed fishing. He had a generous spirit and a deep love for his family and animals. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arlie Griffin and Helen Lois Dixon Griffin; his wife of 56 years, Patricia Floyd Griffin; his siblings, Arlene Griffin, Edward Griffin, Daniel Griffin, Jimmy Griffin, Samuel Griffin, Varon Griffin, Billy Griffin, Steve Griffin, Elizabeth Griffin, and Randall Griffin; and his great-granddaughter, Hadley Wren Coe.

Cecil’s family includes his sons, Larry Griffin (Sheila), Michael Griffin (Jennifer), and Matthew Griffin (Danielle), all of Hazlehurst; his sister, Emily Toler (Jimmy) of Hazlehurst; his grandchildren, Shane Coe, Ashley Coe, Hannah Griffin, Mickayla Griffin, Gaige Griffin, and Ethan Griffin, all of Hazlehurst; his great-grandchildren, Kaibree Coe, Ryker Coe, Leslee-Kate Griffin, Logan Michael Griffin, and Cash McLeod; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Griffin and Rev. Andy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until just prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Gaige Griffin, Jaime Toler, Chad Toler, Sydney Griffin, Shane Coe, and Parker Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Regency SouthernCare Hospice.
