On Thursday, September 15, Charles W. Graham, beloved husband and father, passed away. He was eighty-eight years old.
Born in 1934 in Hazlehurst, Georgia to Levi and Mildred Graham, Charles served in the United States Army Signal Corps, and attended South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia. There he met his wife of sixty-six years, Jeanette Sandifer, of Tifton, Georgia. Charles pursued a career in the finance industry in Atlanta, Georgia, before retiring to Tifton in 2002.
Charles enjoyed hunting, gardening, following college athletics, and reading history. Truly one who never met a stranger, Charles was fondly known by friends both old and new for telling inspiring stories of growing up on the farm in the South Georgia of the 1940’s.
Charles is preceded in death by brothers-in-law: Andy Anderson, Cliff Clayman and Bud Hardeman; and daughter: Penelope Leigh Graham.
A deeply dedicated and selfless husband and father, Charles is survived by his adoring wife: Jeanette; sons: Chuck Graham and Reggie Graham (Jennifer Dodd); brother: John Graham (Leslie); sisters: Margaret Anderson, Evelyn Clayman, Jo Godfrey (Jack), Mary Wilcox, Linda Gregory (Harry) and Brenda Hardeman; as well as four beautiful grandchildren.
Private family service will be held on Friday, September 23, at 2:00 P.M., at Wainright Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Interment will be held at Palms Memorial Garden following the service.
