Mr. Charles Gene Stanley, age 73, of Denton, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia.
Charles was born on August 11, 1951 in Sherman, TX to the late Hershel and Mary Stanley. He grew up in Texas before moving to Chattanooga, TN to attend Tennessee Temple University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and a minor in psychology, and met his wife, Christine. They then moved to Denton, GA in 1981.
Charles was an ASE certified master auto-technician with many hobbies, and he was self-employed as the owner of Precision Auto in Douglas for most of his life. He was also an ordained Baptist minister, as well as a radio personality on WULS103.7 radio station. He is described by his family as a jack of all trades. Charles enjoyed drag racing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In the past few years when his sight was failing, he enjoyed having Christine read the Bible to him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Stephen McDonald; several brothers, and a sister.
His loved ones include his wife of 49 years, Christine Stanley of Denton; his sons, Edward (Emily) Stanley, and Jonathan (Amanda) Stanley, all of Douglas; his daughters, Mary Stanley of Warner Robins, Joy Belle Grantham of Douglas, Melody (Scotty) Herrington, and Grace Stanley Gibbs, all of Denton; his brother, Kenneth Stanley of Sherman, TX; his sisters, Linda (James) Perry of Calera, OK, and Edna (David) Fletcher of Ft. Worth, TX; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Drew) Smith of Denton, Natalie Grantham of Douglas, Abigail Herrington, Faith Gibbs, Ethan Gibbs, and Christian Herrington, all of Denton, Molly Stanley, Bella Grantham, and Henry Stanley, all of Douglas; and one great-grandson, Chett Smith of Denton.
Per his wishes, a private graveside service and interment will be held at the Stanley Family Cemetery on their property.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home and the Stanley are in charge of all arrangements.
