Clara Juanita (Minton) Mims

Ms. Clara Juanita Minton Mims, age 98, of Hazlehurst Georgia passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Pineland Personal Care Home under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice.

Ms. Mims was born on June 24, 1925 in Montgomery County.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ezra Minton and Bonnie Bell McCoy Minton, her husband, John Carroll Mims and all her siblings, Vilian Minton Simmons, W.H. Minton, Flournoy Minton, L.J. McCoy.

Ms. Mims lived in Jeff Davis County all her life. She and her husband were farmers. She enjoyed working on the farm, gardening and she had a flare for decorating in the home. She was a wonderful cook.

She was the most kind, gentle, loving aunt a family could have. Even though she had no children of her own, she helped keep and raise a lot of us. She will be greatly missed.

She was a member of the Bridgeford Church of God in Hazlehurst. She taught Sunday School for many years. She loved teaching the little children’s class.

She loved God first and foremost, and always led by example. She was always willing to help in the church, and worked in the Ladies Ministry. She always loved serving people no matter the need.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 2:00pm in the Bridgeford Church of God Cemetery with Rev. Roger L. Daniels officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Brandon Lewis, Trevor Gibbs, Robert Lewis, Brad Leggett, Ben Leggett and Eddie Simmons.

Musical selections will be rendered by Beverly Swain.
