Daniel Towns

Mr. Daniel Towns, age 73, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born on December 30, 1951, in McRae to the late Guy C. Towns and Christine Briley Towns. Daniel was known as a giant of a man with a heart to match. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing.

Daniel was admired for his impeccable work ethic and his strength of character. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, and he took his role as “Papa” to them with great pride and joy. He will be remembered for his generosity, his love of nature, and the unwavering devotion he showed to those he loved.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Guynell Kennedy, Wylene Haskins, and Eloise Yawn; and his brother, Paul Towns.

Mr. Towns is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pamela Davis Towns of Hazlehurst; his son, Waldon Daniel Towns of Snipesville; his daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany Towns-Reyes and Sergio Reyes of Hazlehurst; his brother, David Towns of Chauncey; his sisters, Wyoma “Oma” Johns of Danville, and Jean Horne (Ralph) of Milan; his grandchildren, Briley, Bryaun, and Maricela Reyes; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Horne officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
