David Earl Floyd

David Earl Floyd, age 77, of Hazlehurst, passed away Tuesday, March 09, 2021 at Jeff Davis Hospital under the care of Community Hospice.

Mr. Floyd was born April 11, 1943 in Wayne County. He is preceded in death by his parents,

DeRoy Floyd and Mamie Nalley Floyd, siblings, Frances Dyal, Irene Williams, JoAnn Cribbs, Poss Floyd, Robbie Floyd and W.D. Floyd.  Mr. Floyd was retired from Jeff Davis Hospital as a Maintenance Supervisor and also was employed with Jeff Davis Board of Education as a Bus Driver for approx. 24 years. He attended Hazlehurst Church of God.  

Survivors include his wife Cathy Lytle Floyd of Hazlehurst; sons, David Duane Floyd of Hazlehurst and Ronald Rowland of Hazlehurst;; daughter, Helen Sellers (Herman) of Hazlehurst; sister, Hazel Taylor of Hazlehurst; brothers, Bobby Floyd of FL. and J.E. Floyd (Barbara) of Hazlehurst; six grandchildren, Candace Floyd, Jenna Griffin (Kevin), Jackson Floyd, Delayna Turner, Shaila Ellis and Bowen Dixon; four great-grandchildren, Jada Beth Hill, Bailey Ellis, Jackie and Blair Dixon; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 12, 2021 at 2:00pm at Hazlehurst Church of God with Rev. John Nunes and Rev. Dwain Joiner officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm at the church.

Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
