Mrs. Debra “Debby” Lee May, age 71, of Hazlehurst, died Monday, October 14, 2024 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida.
She was born in Hazlehurst on May 15, 1953 to Quitman and Shella Mae Batten. She was Christian by faith and attended Hazlehurst Church of God. She enjoyed sewing and even sewed clothes for her missionary friends. She gave of her time volunteering at Christian schools and loved to bake and cook for others. She was a loving, giving person who always saw the best in everyone. She had a genuine servant’s heart and was a caregiver to many throughout her life, including her mother, husband, grandmother, and in-laws. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Batten, and sister-in-law, Mary Batten.
Mrs. May is survived by her husband of 53 years, Greg May of Spring Hill, FL; her daughters, Dina Marchant (Brian) of Doerun, GA, Karey May of Spring Hill, FL, and Lara Mills (Doug) of Spring Hill, FL; her sister, JoAnn Trowell (Larry) of Hazlehurst; 11 grandchildren, Tim Cook (Tessie) of LaGrange, GA, Allison Creath (James) of Hawkinsville, GA, Emily Lopez (Eddie) of Bowling Green, KY, Josh Cook of Albany, GA, Lane Marchant of Boston, MA, Lindsey Marchant of Albany, GA, and Laken Getek (Sean) of Albany, GA, Morgan Allen of Albany, GA, Peyton May, Dilyn Mills, and Alyvia Mills, all of Spring Hill, FL,; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Liam, Naomi, Mariah, and Gabriel Creath, and Arthur Cook; and many special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Hazlehurst Church of God with Pastor Brian Marchant and Reverend Shon McEachen officiating.
A private interment for immediate family will follow in the Halzehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Tim Cook, Josh Cook, James Creath.
Honorary pallbearers will be the senior members of Hazlehurst Church of God.
