Don Darwin Kirkland

Mr. Don Darwin Kirkland, age 64, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.

He was born on November 27, 1960, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late John Darwin Kirkland and Beverly Bond Kirkland. He spent most of his life in Hazlehurst, where he was known for his kind heart and deep love for his family and friends. He was Baptist by faith and found joy in attending church wherever he could. Don loved the Lord and reading his Bible. He cherished time with “his girls” and his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Don also enjoyed the simple things—sharing a good meal, drinking coffee, and taking walks. He will be remembered for his heart of gold, and the love he gave so freely to everyone he met.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Kirkland; and his sister, Deborah Davis.

Don is survived by his daughters, Holly Taylor (Trent) of Douglas, and Laura Miles (Anthony) of Brunswick; his brother, Gary Kirkland (Angie) of McRae; his grandchildren, Eli Taylor, Ella Taylor, Elena Miles, Eli Miles, and Maelee Miles; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and interment will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with Murray Benefield officiating.
