Edward Murphy Obituary

Mr. Edward Murphy, age 72, of Hazlehurst, died Monday, September 07, 2020 at Candler Hospital in Savannah.

Mr. Murphy was born April 29, 1948 in Jeff Davis County; He was preceded in death by his parents Lois Edward Murphy and Willa Mae Mancil Murphy. He was retired from Hazlehurst Mills with approx. 45 years of service and employed part time with Jeff Davis County E.M.S. and with Johnson County E.M.S. with approx. 27 years of service. He was a faithful member of Hazlehurst First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Ussery Murphy of Hazlehurst; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Carla Murphy of Hazlehurst; brothers, David Wayne Murphy (Shelia) of Hazlehurst; Ronnie Murphy (Gina) of Jacksonville FL; grandson, Austin Murphy; three step-grandchildren, April Mansfield, Britny Overstreet and Jacob Scott; two great-grandchildren, Brailyn Overstreet and Ezra Kirkland; nephew, Jason Murphy (Heather) of Valdosta; niece, Brandy Smith (Patrick); great-nephew and niece, Myra and Austin Smith.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 11:00am at Mt Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brad Waters and Rev. Jinker Horton officiating.

The family may be contacted at the Murphy residence, 204 Fred Bush Road, Hazlehurst.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Murphy family and Wainright Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to wear a mask and follow the social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
