Mr. Edward Yawn, age 82, of Denton, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025, at Lumber City Nursing Home.
Mr. Yawn was born October 08, 1943, in Bacon County to the late Clifford Hebron Yawn and Mary Margarette Davis Yawn. He was a lifelong resident of Denton Georgia, a Veteran of the United States Army, serving a four-year term, including one year in Turkey, and enjoyed so much going to and being a member of Denton Baptist Church. In Early years he was employed with CSX Railroad and loved it, he was mesmerized by trains and box cars.
One of his favorite pastime things to do was to sit on the front porch in his rocking chair waving at and counting all the cars that passed by, then going out and checking his mailbox, he was a busy person. After years passed by, he could not do this, people would ask about him, because they missed him. He enjoyed eating, reading, especially his Bible, readers digest, newspapers, and working crossword puzzles.
He was sweet natured, very friendly, always had a smile for you, and he will surely be missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Malissia Yawn Smith.
Edward is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Doll Yawn of Hazlehurst; several special nieces and nephews also survived.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 2:00pm at Denton Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Kersey and Rev. Shon McEachin officiating.
