Mrs. Elizabeth Betty Cain, age 93, of Hazlehurst, died Friday, April 28th, 2023 at the Bacon County Hospital.
Mrs. Cain was born March 15th, 1930 in Jeff Davis County to the late Lott Herrington and the late Willie Lee Spell. She served as the Deputy Clerk of Superior Court for Jeff Davis County from 1964 to 1980. She was also an active member of Zoar Methodist Church in Baxley, Georgia, serving as pianist there for many years. She was a current member of First Methodist Church of Hazlehurst, Georgia. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed attending the Hunter Opry House in Baxley.
Mrs. Cain was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed hosting family get-togethers like Thanksgiving and Christmas. In her later years, nothing brought her more joy than interacting with her great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cain is preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Buck Cain, and son, Dennis E. Cain, and brothers, Otis Herrington, and Glenn Marion Spell.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Tim (Janellda) Cain of Hazlehurst; daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Dwayne) Creamer of Hazlehurst; daughter-in-law, Vanny Cain of Statesboro; Five grandchildren, Michael (Paula) Cain, Joshua (Lauren) Cain, Matthew (Jennifer) Cain, Kalin (Stacia) Creamer, and Karson (Bailey) Creamer; Nine great grandchildren, Shelby Cain, Isla Cain, Harrison Cain, Cora Cain, Nell Cain, Willa Cain, Liam Creamer, Evan Creamer, Scott Hendley, Robin Hendley; One great-great grandchild, Aubrey Wright. Other survivors include sister in laws, Evelyn Haymons of Ellenwood and Sarah Beth Spell of Hazlehurst, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Cain will be held in the Chapel of Wainright Parlor on Sunday, April 30, 2023 beginning at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until service hour. Rev. Jeffery Spell and Rev. Jimmie Ryles will officiate. Interment will follow at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Cains’ grandsons will serve as pall bearers.
The family will be gathering at 99 Oak Ridge Drive in Hazlehurst, GA 31539.
