Mrs. Erma Youngblood Turner, 98, of Lumber City, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Turner was born on March 1, 1925, in Lumber City, Georgia. She is the daughter of the late Ed and Gertrude Burkett and adopted parents, the late Robert and Sallie Youngblood. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Turner; daughter, Carol Powell; infant twin daughters; son-in-law, Malcom Powell; daughter-in-law, Betty Turner; and great-great grandson, Grady Hayes. She was a member of Lumber City Baptist Church and a dedicated prayer warrior for her family and friends.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Chester) Powell of Lumber City, and Ricky Turner of Hazlehurst. Nine grandchildren, Jerry Powell, Cathy Varnadoe, Connie Gillis, Diane Heath, Kevin Powell, Wendy Powell, Jennifer Wilcox, Brad Turner, and Tyler Turner. Eighteen great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Lumber City Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 with visitation to begin at 10 AM and the funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Rev. John Daughtry, Rev. Johnny Taylor, Rev. Ashley Tyree, and Rev. Ryan Clements officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City.
Active pallbearers will be Terry Brown, Bobby Brown, Jerry Nester, Glynn Stinson, Kim Ussery, Gary Webster, and Merle Webster.
The family will gather at Mrs. Turner’s residence at 21 W. Railroad St., Lumber City, Georgia.
