Eugene Merritt

Mr. Eugene Merritt, age 74, of Hazlehurst, died Sunday, September 05, 2021 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Mr. Merritt was born September 16, 1946 in Jeff Davis County. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Mack Merritt and Mary Magalene Smith Merritt, sister, Margaret Dennis and brother, Roger Merritt.  He loved working in his garden and going fishing every chance he got.

He was formerly retired from Sound Lock and was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.  He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Livingston Merritt of Hazlehurst; daughter, Crystal Merritt Howard of Hazlehurst; brothers, James (Grady) Merritt (Sandra) of Florida and Russell Merritt of Douglas; sisters, Mary Ann Merritt Gibbs of Uvalda and Betty Merritt Creamer (Roger) of Uvalda; three grandchildren, J.J. Smith, Allen Howard and Brock Howard; two great-grandchildren, Braxton Tate Smith and Britton Tret Smith; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 08, 2021 at     11:00am in Palms Memorial Garden with Rev. Keith Yawn and Mr. Jimmie Ryles       officiating.

Musical selections will be rendered by Chris Merritt and Mr. Jimmie Ryles.
