Glenn Chavis

Mr. Glenn Chavis, age 66, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 at his home.

Glenn was born on April 10, 1958 to the late Fred and Mary Kersey Chavis. He was a native and lifelong resident of Hazlehurst. He was a Jack of all trades and especially enjoyed working on small motors. He loved fishing, gardening, being outside, and most of all, he loved his grand-babies.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Chavis; his brother, Billy Chavis; his sisters, Barbara Smith, Patsy Dyson, Virginia Griffin, and Hazel Ann Davis; and his niece, Pixie Gay.

His loved ones include his sons, Michael Chavis and Mark Shepard, Jr., both of Hazlehurst; his daughter, Amy Waters of Hazlehurst; his sisters, Peggy Dyal of Hazlehurst, Joan Neal of Hazlehurst, Debbie Dean of Waycross, and Pam Register (Terrell) of Hazlehurst; his grandchildren, Lexus Prescott (Tyler) of Guyton, Kolby Waters, Ebon Waters, Taylor Halligan, and Bailee Chavis, Erin Shepard, Kristin Shepard, and Anna Beth Shepard, all of Hazlehurst; three great-grandchildren; his special dog, “Dog,” and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and interment will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Hal Jeffcoat officiating.
