Mr. Hudson Corley Jr. (Papa), age 90, of Hazlehurst, passed away at his residence Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Mr. Corley was born on October 09, 1935, in Jeff Davis County to the late Hudson Corley Sr. and Ellen Ogilvie Corley. He attended Hazlehurst Pentecostal Church and was known for his uplifting spirit. He never met a stranger and was truly a friend to all. He carried a joyful outlook on life, always ready with a smile and a good laugh. A dedicated and hardworking man, he was blessed to enjoy 28 years of retirement. Sharp as a tack, he maintained his independence until the very end. He found great joy in the simple things—especially sitting in his swing on North Williams Street with a cup of coffee, watching the neighborhood, his birds and squirrels, and the cars passing by. Above all, he loved his family more than anything, taking special pride in looking after his boys. To everyone he met, he was simply “Papa,” and to know him was to love him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah McCall Corley, and daughters, Lawana Faye Taylor (Cricket) and Donna Inez Corley.
Survivors include his son, Terrell Corley of Hazlehurst; Grandchildren, Doug and Denise Baucom, Garrett and CiCi Baucom, Heather White (Courtney Fletcher), Hogan White, Hagan White, and Hudson Fletcher, Lance and Nina Taylor, Lanzi Taylor, Josie Taylor, Cassandra and Dilan Pacheco, Tara and Ryan Thompson, Jayla Pope, Daylon Sellers and Desiree and Carley Thompson, and Cody and Lisa Corley, all of Hazlehurst; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Ursrey of Hazlehurst; and several special extended family members.
Graveside Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 24, 2026, at 2:00pm in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery with Rev. Jinker Horton and Rev. Terry Davis officiating.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home and the Corley family are in charge of arrangements.
