Hugh Blanton Williams

Mr. Hugh Blanton (Blan) Williams, age 70, of Hazlehurst, died at his residence, Monday, November 28, 2022.

Blan was born June 29, 1952, in Jeff Davis County.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Blanton Williams and Jean Dennard Williams, and his son, Joseph Joshua Williams.

He was formerly employed with the City of Hazlehurst as their Water and Sewer Superintendent for 30-plus years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst.

He was truly an Outdoorsman, he always enjoyed the family camping trips, hunting, fishing, and mechanicing on family vehicles when necessary.  He had a strong work ethic, he enjoyed going to work, because he loved helping people, day or night. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife; Margaret Hope Graham Williams of Hazlehurst; two daughters and son-in-law, Shanna and Lynn Deen of Alma and Lisa and Mitchell Yawn of Hazlehurst; son and daughter-in-law, Marvin Brandon and Rachel Williams of Virginia; sisters, Joyce Canfield of Marietta, Gail and Stanley Land of Hazlehurst and Hilda and Jeff Parker of North Carolina; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 02, 2022, in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home, visitation will begin at 12:00 and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Brad Waters officiating.

Interment will follow in the Palms Memorial Garden.

Blans Sunday School Class, Nathan Yawn, and Ryan Taylor will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Active pallbearers will be Lynn Deen, Brandon Williams, Stanley Land, Mitch Yawn, Chris McEachin, and Neil Girtman.

The Williams Family and Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to continue to follow social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
