Mr. James Terrell Anderson, age 55, of Hazlehurst, passed away December 25, 2024 at his home.
Mr. Anderson was born on September 10, 1969 to the late Paul Edward Anderson and Stella Louise Newham Teston. He was a native and lifelong resident of Jeff Davis County, apart from living two years in Tennessee where he picked up his hobby of selling vegetables, and became known as the “pepper peddler.” He was a member of Macedonia Church of God and a volunteer firefighter with the Snipesville station of the Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Fire Department. He was a connoisseur of other people’s unwanted things. He was a foster parent who loved children, and they loved him back. In his spare time, he loved to hunt, fish, shoot pool, sing, roller skate, play cards, and listen to music, especially Gospel and old country. Mr. Anderson truly enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a connoisseur of other people’s unwanted things, and he also loved to plant fruits and vegetables. Most of all, he loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walt J.W. and Annie Evelyn Anderson; maternal grandparents, Eugene G. and Annie Mae Newham; his uncles, J.M. Newman and Roger Anderson; aunt, Betty Anderson; and his cousins, Melanie Newman Simmons and Michael "Mike" Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl L. Anderson of Hazlehurst; his sister, Pam A. Davis (Greg) of Hazlehurst; his brothers, “Mean” Gene Anderson (Lisa) of Hazlehurst, and Tony Teston of Douglas, his aunt, Carolyn Newman of Hazlehurst; his uncle, Allen Anderson (Jean) of Denton; his foster children, Sarah, Jeremy, and Julius Roberts, all of Hazlehurst; his nephew, Warren Davis of Jacksonville, FL; his niece, Ashleigh Anderson of Indiana; his great-niece, Jaston Anderson of Indiana; and his God-daughter, Allysa “Boo” Harrell.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, December 27, 2024, from 6:00-9:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Van McCall and Rev. Jinker Horton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Meeks, Greg Craft, Jerry Braun, Bryan Horton, Warren Clark, Mike Harrell, Hunter Griffin, Dean White, and Jeremy Fordham.
Honorary pallbearers will be all former classmates and friends who attend.
