James DeLoach Obituary

With great sadness, the family of James Robert DeLoach wishes to inform you of his passing on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the age of 88.

Mr. DeLoach was born in 1932 in Tattnall County to the late Nathan L. “Bud” DeLoach and the late Ella Baker DeLoach. After graduation from Hazlehurst High School, he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and then returned home to Hazlehurst to work the family farm. He later started working for Ryder Truck Lines and retired after 30 years driving the nation’s highways.

He was an avid gardener, who loved to work in his yard and to plant and harvest a large vegetable garden each summer. One of his proudest accomplishments was sharing this knowledge of gardening and farming with others, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judy Dawson DeLoach of Jonesboro; son, Clay DeLoach (Carla) of McDonough; daughter, Debbie DeLoach Richardson (Keith) of Eatonton; four grandchildren, Matthew DeLoach, Daniel DeLoach, Jessica Richardson, and Andrew Richardson.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, 2021 at 11:00AM in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery with Rev. Royce Hulett officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Matthew DeLoach, Daniel DeLoach, Andrew Richardson, Keith Richardson, Horace Sutton, and Jeff Goff.

In lieu of flowers, family request that contributions can be made to the Eternal Hope Hospice House, 123 N. 18th Street, Griffin, Ga. 30223.

The DeLoach family and Wainright Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to continue to follow the social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
