Mr. Jay Yawn, age 65, of Hazlehurst, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Memorial Health Hospital in Savannah.
Mr. Yawn was born on June 03, 1960, in Jeff Davis County to the late Joseph Allen Yawn Sr. (JA) and Jackie Thompson Carter.
He enjoyed operating heavy equipment and had a true love for farming, finding peace and purpose in the work he did. One of his favorite pastimes was riding on his buggy with his beloved dog, Daisy, who was his constant companion. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially cheering for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He had a deep love for life and lived each day to the fullest, leaving behind many memories.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sue Yawn Ward.
His surviving family includes his son, Justin Yawn (Natalie Davenport) of Hazlehurst, his daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Chris Parlor of Hazlehurst; brothers; Joe Yawn (Sharon), Jack Yawn (Patsy) and Ray Yawn (Lisa) all of Hazlehurst; brother-in-law, Jimmy Ward of Hazlehurst; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home, with Rev. Brian Brazzell officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Keith Rentz, Mitchel Yawn, Glenn Bohannon, Austin Bohannon, Joe Colson and Kyle Herndon will serve as active pallbearers.
