Ms. Joan Mims Swain, age 80, left us peacefully on July 08, 2024, at Lakeview Retirement Home in the care of her family and Southern Regency Hospice.
Joan now rests in the arms of our Lord and is reunited with her late husband, Doy Swain, her parents, Rudolph Riley and Edna Hutto Mims, and her brother, Rudy Mims, along with numerous much-loved family and friends who have gone before her.
Joan was born on August 17, 1943, in Ft. Dix, NJ.
After graduating from Jeff Davis High School in 1961, Joan married the love of her life, Doy Swain on July 02, 1961.
She was an asset at the Jeff Davis County Courthouse for many years, and several numerous county offices.
Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory to her one son: Jeffery Swain (Connie) of Jesup; two daughters: Cherie Smith ( late Randy) of Hazlehurst and Chanta Brown (Tracy) of Roanoke Alabama; several grandchildren: Tyler, Caitlin (Jon), Allison (Joshua), Ivey Grace (Dylan), Caroline, Camille; three great grandchildren: Aniston, Jedd Wesson, and Juniper, one sister: Judy Cole (Jack) of Hazlehurst, and two nieces: Kelly Strickland (Chris) and Lacy Mims.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 12:00pm at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Waters officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment will follow in the Satilla Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
All family and friends in attendance will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Tyler Swain (her grandson), Jon Kelley, Steven Swain, Chris Strickland, Daniel Strickland, and Kyle Strickland will serve as active pallbearers.
