Joey Ray Hysmith, (known as Rawhide), age 69, of Uvalda, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah.
Mr. Hysmith was born on October 17, 1954, in Apopka FL.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Macon Hysmith and Francis Silers Hysmith, his wife, Barbara Lowery Hysmith.
He was a Simple Man that loved the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and occasionally enjoyed a good chicken fight. He was also known to take chances playing the slots. But the center of his world was his grandchildren.
He was previously employed with Beasley Timber Company.
Survivors include his son, Michael Hysmith of Uvalda; two daughters, Diangela Francis Hysmith (Sharod) of Douglas and Chrissy Denmark (Michael) of Uvalda; brother, John Chambers (Debra) of Uvalda; three sisters, Rose Ann Foskey (Vernon) of Uvalda, Elaine Simpson (Carl) of Uvalda and Ruth Colter of Vienna; ten grandchildren, Kailey Rogers, Kaden Hysmith, Lakelynn Rogers, Preston Walker (Michell), Michael Denmark, Jacob Walker, Brett Denmark, Tyler Denmark (Abby), Christopher Walker and Trenton Denmark; several nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Brother David Beasley officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hysmith family Cemetery, 450 Isle of Hope Road, Uvalda.
His son, Michael Hysmith, his grandsons, Christopher Walker, Preston Walker, Jacob Walker, Kaden Hysmith and his nephews, James Lowery and David Lowery will serve as active pallbearers.
