Mr. John Edward Herndon, age 86, of Hazlehurst died Friday, October 08, 2021 at Hazlehurst Court Care.
Mr. Herndon was born August 23, 1935 in Jeff Davis County. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Herndon and Julia Mae Long Herndon, daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Herndon Cochran (Bob) and brother, Randall Herndon. He had a strong work ethic all of his life, he loved hunting and fishing but his heart and soul was in farming his land and providing for his family.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Valeria Toumbleston Herndon of Hazlehurst; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Rhonda Herndon of Hazlehurst; daughter and son-in-law, Regina H. and Freddie Kight of Ohio; sister, Geraldine Powell (Winston) of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Carolyn Herndon of Hazlehurst; brother-in-law, Stanley Toumbleston of Snipesville; five grandchildren, Lacie Kight, Sloan Kight (Jeff), Kyle Herndon (Nikki), Bailey Herndon and Triston Herndon; eight great-grandchildren, Jadynn Halterman, Makaylla Kight, Savannah Kight, Rylee Halterman, Bentley Kight, Valerie Fenwick, Tucker Herndon and Callie Mae Herndon; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021at 11:00am in the Bridgeford Church of God Cemetery with Rev. David Miller and Rev. Keith Yawn officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be all Family and Friends in attendance.
Active Pallbearers will be Gunner Jackson, Chris Branch, Jerry Hand, Dobbie Cauley, John Randall Herndon, and Richard Stone.
A special thank you to Southern Care Hospice and Hazlehurst Court Care, especially Mrs. Kadie Robbins who went above and beyond her daily choirs to make John’s stay more comfortable.
