Joyce (Thigpen) Roberts

Ms. Joyce Roberts, age 78 of Hazlehurst passed away January 06, 2024.

She was born on July 15, 1945, in Wheeler County.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred (Freddy) Roberts, Jr, parents, William Walter Thigpen and Laura Lawrence Thigpen, and brother, William (Gary) Thigpen.

Joyce practiced as a dental hygienist for over 50 years. She dearly loved her patients and her visits with them. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and had a great appreciation for great authors. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst.

Survivors are her children, Laurie (Tim) Mehlhorn of Richmond Hill; Dr. Al (Brenda) Roberts III of Savannah; grandchildren, Freddi (Austin) Gayle, of Clinton, Louisiana, Bobbi Mehlhorn of Savannah, Fred Roberts IV of Richmond Hill; great-granddaughter, Caroline Joyce Gayle; sister, Joan Arrington; brothers, Rosby (Ella Mae) Thigpen, Ronald (Yvonne) Thigpen, Donnie (Deborah) Thigpen; Mother of her grandson and friend, Robin Roberts; several dearly loved nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 08, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffery Spell and Rev. Patrick Owens officiating. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.

Her nephews Justin Thigpen, Tyler Thigpen, Chris Roberts, Kyle Roberts, Will Thigpen and Grayson Roberts will serve as active pallbearers.

Musical selections will be rendered by Ms. Brigette Corbin and Rev. Jeffery Spell.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
