Mrs. Lanell Owings McKinney, age 70, of Hazlehurst, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Lumber City Care Center.
Mrs. McKinney was born on September 23, 1954, in Jeff Davis County.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Owings and Vanell Buckins Owings, infant son, Earnest McKinney Jr., sister, Nancy Dykes and brothers, David Owings, Mike Owings and Harry Owings.
Lanell was a kind, sweet hearted lady that loved her family especially her grand and great-grandchildren. She loved being a part of their lives, especially taking part in raising them. Listening to Elvis music, reading romance novels, and watching westerns and Elvis movies were some of her favorite pastime.
Survivors include her husband, Earnest McKinney of Hazlehurst; daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Bryan Livingston of Lumber City; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Destiny McKinney of Hazlehurst; brothers, Johnny Owings and Ralph Owings both of Hazlehurst; sisters, Carolyn Courson of Hazlehurst and Sharon (Nathan) Smith of Statesboro; six grandchildren, Lindsay (Cole) Towne, Noah Livingston, Gracie Livingston, Kira McKinney, Elena McKinney and Lincoln McKinney; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Camilla Towne; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home, visitation will begin at 1:00pm and the funeral will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Shon McEachin officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
All family and friends in attendance will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Tony Rigby, Brandon Rigby, Cody Rigby, Cole Towne, Ben Clements and Nathan Smith will serve as active pallbearers.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
