Ms. Lelia Holton Carter, age 83, of Hazlehurst, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at her residence.
Ms. Lelia was born October 12, 1941, in Bacon County.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Holton and Thelma White Holton, husband, Orean “Bo” Carter, daughter, Sheila Elaine Carter, sisters, Kaye Bodie, Collene Yawn, Sadie Holton, and brother, J.B. Holton.
She was retired from Amoco Fabric, previously a member of the Pilot Club and a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday/School classes and Vacation Bible School for many years. She loved the outdoors, loved her gardening, her flowers and vegetables.
Ms. Lelia was a true Southern Christian Lady, that believed every time the church door was open, she should be there, along with her children. Her family said she drove a little shuttle bus (Volkswagen) to church, anyone wanting to go she stopped by and picked them up.
She would tell her family, she lived the life, walked the walk, talked the talk, so therefore she was never afraid of death, she made her calling sure. She was the GLUE that held this family together, a loving mother, grandmother, and she worshipped her family dearly, she will surely be missed.
