Lola Johnson-Broom Obituary

Ms. Lola Mae Johnson Broom, age 88, of Hazlehurst, passed away Friday, December 08, 2023, at her son’s home in Macon.

Ms. Lola Mae was born September 30, 1935, in Telfair County.

She is preceded in death by her parents, David Floyd Bowen and Malverine Rhymes Bowen, her husband of 50 years, Aubrey (Geechie) Johnson and husband, Elmer Stewart Broom Jr., brother, William Carroll Bowen, sisters, Elizabeth Bonner and Eloise Marchant.

She was a Homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Ms. Lola Mae was a true Southern Classy Christian Lady.

She was an excellent Cook, always enjoyed cooking for her family,  loved to sew and was a professional interior decorator. She enjoyed life, but most of all, she loved being a wife, a mom and a granny. And she will truly be missed.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Jeff Duvall of Baxley; son and daughter-in-law, Stacey and Candice Johnson of Macon; brother, Jesse F. Bowen (Pat) of Warner Robins; sisters, Alphiene Sequeirra of Las Vegas and Angela Harris (Ray) of McRae; seven grandchildren, Julie Clements, Jacob Clements, Shelby Fletcher, Ryan Johnson, Brice Johnson, Jonathan Duvall, and Hunter Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Samuel Morton, Zachary Alday, Emma Clements, Matthew Clements, Hannah Fletcher and Kallum Johnson;  several nieces and nephews also survived.

A visitation will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 3:00-4:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Brown and Dr. Ben Glosson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery, also where a graveside memorial service with Military Honors will be held for her late husband, Elmer Stewart Broom Jr., as they will be interred at the same tiime.

 Her grandsons, Hunter Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Brice Johnson, Jonathan Duvall, Samuel Morton, and Zachary Alday will serve as active pallbearers.

Jacob Clements and Matthew Clements will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home will oversee the arrangements.
