Marjorie Smith Obituary

Ms. Marjorie Mullis Smith, age 91, of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, September 08, 2022, at her residence.

Ms. Smith was born November 17, 1930, in Rentz Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Wendell Mullis and Amie Register Mullis, husband, Odis Carroll Smith, daughter, Marlene Smith Strickland, and granddaughter, Pam (ChaCha) Brown.

Faithful member of the Hazlehurst Church of God until her advancing age and declining health prohibited her from attending regularly. She loved her Church Family.

During her life, she had many jobs, (Hazlehurst Mfg. for nineteen years, Big House Restaurant for eight years, and owner and operator of The Sewing Nook for thirty years), which enabled her to form relationships that became lifetime friends. She had a smile for everyone she would meet.

She retired at age 80 but continued working at home. She enjoyed working with her flowers and continued cutting grass at the age of 90. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. She had a gentle spirit, humble and compassionate, and will be missed by her family.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law; Carlene and Ed Gauler of Hazlehurst; two sons and daughters-in-law; Buddy Odis and Brenda Smith of Hazlehurst and Jack Carroll and Kathy Smith of Hazlehurst; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great-grandchildren also survived.
