Martha Sue Ward

Mrs. Martha Sue Ward, age 65, of Hazlehurst, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Candler Hospital in Savannah.

Mrs. Ward was born February 25, 1955 in Hazlehurst, Georgia; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late, J.A. Yawn, Sr. and Jackie Thompson Carter and her step-father, J.N. Carter. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was also the manager of Preferred Loan & Tax Services.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Ward, daughter, Jenna Maria Ward, son, Jacob Calvin Ward, a grandson, Parker Ward, four brothers, Joe Allen Yawn, Jack Yawn, Jay Yawn and Ray Yawn of Hazlehurst and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Brazzell officiating. Interment will follow at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 3:00 until funeral hour at the church.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Ward family and Wainright Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to wear a mask and follow the social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
