Mary Sellers Obituary

Mrs. Mary Jane Sellers, age 84, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Hazlehurst on September 16, 1940 to the late Allie and Lettie Griffin. She and her husband, Juanice Sellers, lived everywhere from California to Florida during his years of military service, and then moved back to Hazlehurst in 1975. She was a hard worker and retired from Walmart after over 20 years. She was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church, and in her spare time she enjoyed fishing and being outside tending to her flowers. She also loved painting and cooking. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sellers is preceded in death by her husband, Juanice Sellers, Sr.; her sons, Wayne Allen Sellers and Michael Sellers; and her brother, Winnon Griffin.

Her loved ones include her son, Juanice Sellers, Jr. (Cindy) of Hazlehurst; her daughter, Gayle Carter (David) of Hazlehurst; her sisters, Rosetta Faircloth of Hazlehurst, and Wilma Stone (Thomas) of Claxton; her grandchildren, Steven Sellers, Kevin Sellers, Dwayne Sellers, Scott Carter, and Shannon Smith; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Sellers of Lumber City; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with brother Harrison Pearson officiating.
