Melanie Joy Lightsey

Ms. Melanie Joy Lightsey, age 51, of Hazlehurst, died Monday, May 30, 2022 at Bacon County Hospital in Alma.
Ms. Lightsey was born May 18, 1971 in Jeff Davis County.
She is preceded in death by her father, Malvin Leroy Branch and grandmother, Mary Sammie Conner.
She was previously employed as a 911 Communications Officer with Appling County Board of Commissioners.
Her life was centered around her niece and nephew, Chris and Bradee, she loved them as if they were her own. She was very family oriented and loved spending time with them. Her Fur baby, Milo was very special to her.
Survivors include her mother, Phyllis Conner Branch of Hazlehurst; sister, Bobbie Jo (Mike) Lynn of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews, Christopher (Andria) Eunice of Hazlehurst, Kenedy Lynn of Douglas, Kealey (Chris) Rigby of Alma, and Bradee Jade Lynn of Hazlehurst; great-nieces, Kyla Zamora and Blakely Rigby.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 02, 2022 at Liberty Community Church, visitation will begin at 1:00pm and funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Stacy Teston and Rev. Charles Brantley officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Caroline Anderson and Staff, Altamaha Home Health Care (Valarie, Ashley and Leigh), Jeff Davis County E.M.S. and members of Liberty Community Church.
Active pallbearers will be Stacy Teston, Kelly Teston, Sammie Hutcheson, Ken Teston, Joe Garrett, Charles (Pnut) Conner and Frankie Hutcheson.
Musical selections will be rendered by Rev. Charles and Tina Brantley.
The Lightsey Family and Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to continue to follow social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
