Ms. Michele Taylor, age 62, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas.
She was born on January 26, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Wades Taylor and Bonnie Tanner Carter. For more than 30 years, she faithfully served as the general manager of the Huddle House locations in Lumber City and later Hazlehurst. She truly loved her work and cared deeply for her coworkers and employees, always treating them as family.
Michele enjoyed cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs and listening to her favorite country music. She was outspoken, full of fire, and never afraid to speak her mind. In her younger years, she was a talented singer and played the clarinet in band.
Above all, Michele was the heart of her family. Her loved ones often said, “She took care of all of us,”and she did—whether it was Christmas, birthdays, or simply someone who needed a helping hand. She always found a way to show up, support, and give. She cherished her family dearly, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Gigi.”
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her fiancé, Larry Beck; and her Aunt and second mom, Jackie Medders.
Michele is survived by her son, Dakota Hughes (Megan) of Hazlehurst; her brother, Wade “Buddy” Taylor, Jr. (Melissa), of Lumber City; her sister, Deidre “Dede” Allen (Wayne) of Hazlehurst; her grandchildren, Jax Hughes, Max Hughes, Kaiden, and Allie; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Taylor and Rev. David Deen officiating.
