Nina Lewis Obituary

Nina Oveta Hutto Lewis passed away on August 27th in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, GA.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lewis, sister, Betty Chavis, brother, Donald Hutto, Mother and Father, Maysie Henson, and Johnnie Hutto.

She was an amazing mother and loved her family.  She was truly a farmer’s wife.  She worked hard alongside our dad and together they had a successful farm operation and were blessed with five children.  She raised her children in church and set a Godly example of what a Christian wife and mother should be. She loved her farm life, her flowers, gardening, and her critters.  She loved to cook up meals in the kitchen for family and friends.  She loved music and loved playing the piano at church, singing, or wherever a piano was available.  She was a member of the Baxley Christian Fellowship Church and a member of Jimmy Ryles’ quartet and traveled all over with them, as long as she was able.  She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, friends, and anyone who knew her.  Her children rise up and call her blessed Proverbs 31:28. When you looked at “Sister Nina Lewis” you saw the epitome of how the Lord Jesus Christ wants us to live every day. At the age of fourteen, she gave her heart to the Lord and since that day has truly lived a Christian life.

She is survived by her five children, Joyce (Roger) Daniels of Hazlehurst, Wanda (Dwight) Leroy of Dublin, Richard (Ruby) Lewis of Hazlehurst, Robert (Renee) Lewis) of Hazlehurst, and Cliff (Tina) Lewis of Hazlehurst; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home, visitation will begin at 2:00 pm and funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev.
