Paulette Brown Obituary

Mrs. Paulette C. Brown, age 76, of Lumber City, went home to be with the Lord on her favorite day of the week, Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center in Macon.

She was born in Telfair County on June 4, 1949, to the late Wade Melvin Coleman and Sarah Pearl McCranie Coleman. After marrying the love of her life, she made her home in Lumber City. She and her husband were inseparable best friends and did everything together, building a life centered around faith, love, and service. Paulette retired as a compliance officer from the Bank of Lumber City.

A devoted member of Lumber City Baptist Church, she faithfully served in many roles over the years, including as a Sunday School teacher and soprano in the church choir. She had a wonderful voice and loved to sing. Her passion for missions was evident throughout her life—some lovingly called her a missionary to Lumber City. Her last act of giving was purchasing toys for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child, a reflection of her lifelong commitment to sharing God’s love.

She was known for her incredible cooking and the joy she found in feeding others, whether it was a home-cooked meal or a sweet treat shared with friends and neighbors. Her laugh was one of a kind—full, contagious, and unforgettable. When Paulette laughed, everyone around her soon joined in. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “MeMe,” a role she treasured more than anything. Her casket spray is lovingly arranged with her favorite flowers- lilies, roses, magnolias, and poppies- chosen to reflect the “family garden” she cherished most: her grandchildren, each bearing the name of a bloom she loved. Her smile was brightest when she was surrounded by her family, and her love for them was as deep as her faith. She will be remembered for her radiant joy, servant’s heart, musical spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to all.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her mother who raised her, Betty Hanson; her sisters, Cathy Coleman, and Melbra Mickel; and several other special family members.

Paulette’s family includes her beloved husband of 54 years, Terry Brown of Lumber City; her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Cooper (Jon) of Meridian, Mississippi; her sister, Melanie Dover (Robert) of Dublin; her grandchildren, Hannah Robbins (Levi), Emmett Cooper, and LilyAnn Cooper, all of Meridian, Mississippi; her great-grandchildren, AveryRose, Magnolia, and Stevie Kate Robbins; her brother-in-law, John R. Hussey (Mercedes) of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews that call her “Aunt Pau Pau.”

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Lumber City Baptist Church with Bro. Ashley Tyree and Rev. John Daughtry officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City.

Active pallbearers will be Shane McCullar, Chester Powell, Jimmy Priest, Emmett Cooper, Jessy Dover, and Levi Robbins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paulette’s Lumber City Baptist Church family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Paulette’s memory to Lumber City Baptist Church, P.O. Box 297, Lumber City, Georgia, 31549.
