Ms. Pearlie Newell, age 67, of Hazlehurst, passed away Friday, April 10, 2026, at her home.
Ms. Newell was born on September 12, 1958, in Tampa Florida, to the late Hoke Newell and Mollie Mills Newell, but had made Hazlehurst her home for many years. She was a member of Restoration Church and enjoyed spending time reading her Bible. In her younger years, she loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. She also enjoyed watching television and was happiest when surrounded by others, as she truly loved a crowd. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she especially cherished the time she spent caring for her grandchildren. She was also well known for her love of coffee, often keeping a cup close by throughout the day.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Newell and Ralph Newell, brothers-in-law, Bobby Trowell, Gene Husted and Aubrey Floyd.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Aaron Grantham of Fitzerald, Henry (Hank) Cleve Barfield of Clarksville FL, and Joe Harvey Stanford III of Hawaii; daughter, Elizabeth Diane Carlson and Joey Wilkinson of Alford FL, and Freida Marie Stanford of Fitzgerald; brother, Henry and Teresa Newell of Fitzgerald; sisters, Bessie Trowell of Hazlehurst, Susie Newell of Fitzgerald, Virginia Floyd of Hazlehurst, Linda Floyd of North Carolina, and Christine Husted of Tampa; seventeen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 13, 2026, at 2:00pm in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Gilbert officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
