Mr. Raleigh “Bo” Wilcox Sr., age 93, of Hazlehurst, died Saturday, May 15, 2021 at his residence.
Mr. Wilcox was born November 07, 1927 in Jeff Davis County.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. Wilcox and Missie Creamer Wilcox, and wife, Ruby Lou Lewis Wilcox, whom he was married to for 68 years, his daughter Peggy Ray, his sister Lucille Hutchinson, brothers Edward Wilcox, Odis Wilcox, James Wilcox, Buford (Shorty) Wilcox and Theo (Johnny Wilcox).
He loved his church and church family, was an avid Farmer, loved fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and song leader for several years.
Survivors include his son, Raleigh M Wilcox, Jr. (Marian) of Jacksonville, Florida, his two daughters, Amanda Loper of Dearing and Vernelle Wilcox Vincent of Broxton; son-in-law, Jimmy Ray of Waycross; seven grandchildren, David Ray (Connie), Debbie Day (David), Molly Rhoden (Robby), Mindy Wilcox, Kenneth Loper, Ray Hand (Cindy) and Michelle Loper; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to express special gratitude to Rebecca “Becky” Bateman who has given “Mr. BO” special care and love for several years.
We would also like to thank the staff of GHC Hospice, especially Patricia Lamb and Ryan Wilson for the outstanding care given our father the final days of his journey here on earth.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, visitation will begin at 1:00pm and funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Tyrone Hutchinson officiating, assisted by Ryan Wilson and Ken Branholm, at the graveside.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
