Ralph Edward Owings

Mr. Ralph Edward Owings, age 63, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

He was born in Hazlehurst on May 28, 1961 to the late Irvin and Vanell Owings. Aside from living a few years in Alabama and Florida, Hazlehurst was his home. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed the work he did. He was a jack of all trades, and was proud to be called a “redneck.” He was always helping those in need, regardless of who they were. Mr. Owings took pride in his last name and loved his family dearly.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Dykes, and Lanell McKinney; and his brothers, David Owings, Mike Owings, and Harry Owings.

Mr. Owings is survived by his son, James (Brittany) Owings of Hazlehurst; his partner, Brenda Brown of Hazlehurst; his brothers, Johnny Owings of Hazlehurst, and Raymond Wheeler of Baxley; his sisters, Carolyn Courson of Hazlehurst, and Sharon (Nathan) Smith of Statesboro; his grandchildren, McKenna Gomez, Kaylee Gomez, and Ryleigh Woodard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
