Mr. Ronald Lee Powell, age 76, of Hazlehurst, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at his granddaughter’s residence.
Mr. Powell was born July 13, 1947 in Jeff Davis County.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hammond Leon Powell and Estelle Douglas Powell, wife, Shirley Ann Johnson Powell, sister, Marie Murray and brother, Herman Powell.
Mr. Powell was a Simple Man, worked hard all of his life, but he enjoyed working at McCarty’s Auto Parts because they were family, and he was treated as such. He also enjoyed fishing, playing the lottery, and was of the Baptist faith. He loved his family dearly and especially his little furry friend, PRECIOUS.
Survivors include his son, Brandon Darley (Lakecha Hersey) of Graham; granddaughters, Kelsie Carver (Ryan) of Hazlehurst, and Kiley Gillis of Hazlehurst; grandsons, Kole Gillis of Hazlehurst and L.J. Mathews of Jacksonville Fla.; brother, Edward Powell of Jacksonville FL, sister, Jean Crosby of Yulee FL; four special friends, Stephanie Boatright, Lindy Watts (aka Lindy Lu), Steve Lewis and Paco Pizano; two very important people in his life, Bug and Carol McCarty; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 01, 2023 in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home; visitation will begin at 10:00am and funeral Services will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Keith Yawn officiating.
The McCarty’s Auto Parts Family will serve as Honorary pallbearers.
Will Duncan, Michael Duckett, Lance Ellis, Alex Rentz, Gunner Waters, Steve Lewis, and Felipe Solis will serve as active pallbearers.
Musical selections will be rendered by Mrs. Angie McCall.
