Sherry Lynn (Kight) Thrift

Mrs. Sherry Lynn Thrift, age 66, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

She was born in Douglas on February 5, 1959 to the late George and Marilyn Kight. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jeff Davis County and a member of Union Springs Baptist Church. Chickens were one of her favorite things, and she had chicken decorations all over her home. She also enjoyed going fishing, and she was a proud little league mom for many years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bubba Thrift; and her step-sister, Gina Kight.

Sherry’s loved ones include her sons, Luke Thrift, and Dex Thrift (Kayla), all of Hazlehurst; her daughters, Tess Thrift (Kendall), and Mara Thrift, all of Hazlehurst; her brother, Greg Kight (Shannon) of Hazlehurst; her grand-children, Levi, Layne, Lexi, Brody, Layton, Logan, Kyla, and Tate; and her nieces, Karleigh Carter and Sarabeth Kight, both of Hazlehurst.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, February 11, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the chapel of Wainright Parlor Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with brother Charlie Kight officiating.

Interment will follow in the Satilla Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Levi Rowland, Layne Riley, Chuck Simpson, James Lowery, Lance Harrison, and Duran Stapleton.

The family will be gathering at Mrs. Sherry’s home, 118 Section House Ln, Hazlehurst, GA 31539.
