Shirley Nabors passed away peacefully on July 10th at her home in Hilton Head, SC, under the care of her family and Crescent Hospice.
Shirley now rests in the arms of our Lord and is reunited with her late husband, Richard Nabors, her daughter Kim Nabors, and numerous much-loved family and friends who have gone before her.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Gorrell (Mike), and grandchildren Noah Gorrell, Bella Gorrell & Lilah Gorrell and her granddaughter, Ashley McEachin (Eric), and great-grandchildren Kade Mills, Korin McEachin & Kyla McEachin.
Born in Warrenton, GA, Shirley met her husband Richard while they were both working in Atlanta. They married in 1961 and moved to Hazlehurst, Richard’s hometown, where they raised their two daughters. They lost their older daughter Kim in 1995 and were blessed to help raise their granddaughter, Ashley. Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In the 1980s she worked at Triple H, but most would remember her from her many years at the jewelry counter of Walmart. She thoroughly enjoyed the social aspect of the role and loved it when people stopped by the jewelry counter just to say hello and catch up.
Following the death of her husband Richard after 59 years of marriage, she moved to an independent living community near her daughter Lynn. She spent three wonderful years and many laughter filled hours with her beloved friends there.
Truly a sweet and deeply kind soul, Shirley brought warmth and joy to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
She was formerly a member of Elizabeth Baptist church in Hazlehurst. For the last 3 years, she has attended St Andrew By the Sea Methodist Church in Hilton Head.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:00am in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Yawn officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Eric McEachin, Mike Gorrell, Noah Gorrell and Kade Mills will serve as active pallbearers.
