Mr. Sonny Hughes, age 52, of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Jeff Davis Hospital.
Mr. Hughes was born July 23, 1967 in Appling County. Sonny was a member of The Church of God at Hazlehurst, where he held several leadership positions in the church, including being a Sunday school teacher.
He was employed with the Savannah Carpenters Local Union #256 and was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Clyde Hughes Jr. and Jerry Dewayne Hughes.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Rowell Hughes, of Hazlehurst, son, Kyle Hughes of Adel, Hayden Hughes of Hazlehurst, Jacob Hughes of Hazlehurst, and Chase Hughes of Hazlehurst; daughters, Kori Hughes of Hazlehurst, Sarah Hughes of Glenwood, Gracie Hughes of Hazlehurst and Ariel Hughes of Hazlehurst; mother, Joan Neal of Hazlehurst; father, Roy C. Hughes Sr. (Michelle) of Hazlehurst; Siblings, Cindy Varnadore of Hazlehurst, Sandy Yawn of Hazlehurst, Timmy Hughes of Hazlehurst, Josh Hughes (Cheree) of Hazlehurst, Matthew Hughes (Kaylee) of Ambrose, Linnie Davis (Casey) of Broxton, Angie Everett (Steve) of Hazlehurst, Luke Collins of Hazlehurst, Donnie Deen of Hazlehurst, Katie Ely of Hazlehurst, Michele Taylor of Hazlehurst, Deidre Allen (Wayne) of Hazlehurst, and Wade Taylor Jr. (Melissa) of Lumber City one granddaughter, Riley Bowen also survive.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2:00pm at Hazlehurst City Cemetery with Rev. Hal Jeffcoat officiating.
