Valeria Herndon Obituary

Ms. Valeria Toumbleston Herndon, age 84, of Hazlehurst, passed away Thursday, November 09, 2023 at Jeff Davis Hospital.

Ms. Herndon was born on September 04, 1939 in Telfair County.

She is preceded in death by parents, Wade Hampton Toumbleston and Velma Johnson Toumbleston, husband, John Edward “Jake” Herndon, daughter, Cynthia Dale Herndon Cochran and siblings, Ella Pearl Riden Hall, Walter D. Riden, Wade Jr. Toumbleston and Jerry Don Toumbleston.

Ms. Herndon was a native of Lumber City but had made Hazlehurst her home for the last 57 years. She was a great Homemaker, consisting of being a loving mother, and grandmother and a great cook. She was the image of a true Southern Christian Lady that believed in her Lord and was a shining light for all to see. She loved her family dearly and will truly be missed by all.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Regina Faye and Freddie Kight; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Rhonda Herdon; brother, Stanley Toumbleston; five grandchildren, Lacie Melaia Kight, Sloan DeAnna Kight Thimmes, Matthew Kyle Herndon, Balie Herndon, and Tristen Herndon; ten great-grandchildren, Jadynn Lana Halterman, Makaylla Kight, Savannah Kight, Rylee Halterman, Bentley Kight, Valerie Fenwick, Tucker Herndon, Callie Mae Herndon, Lilly Thimmes and Dylann Thimmes, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 3:00pm in the Bridgeford Church of God Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Deloach and Rev. Keith Yawn officiating.

The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 till 2:45pm at Wainright-Parlor

Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Dobey Cauley, Jerry Hand, Troy Johnson, Nick Rowell, Wadis Toumbleston and Stacy Toumbleston.
